Vacuum Table (Clamp)

Vacuum Table (Clamp)

Postby jeff » Thu Mar 24, 2011 3:53 pm

I havent seen much on here as far as a DIY Vaccuum clamp, or table. I am getting geared up to build a CNC that I can cut a full sheet of plywood on and I want to have the vacuum option. http://www.shopbottools.com/mProducts/vacuumholddown.htm I like this idea on the 4 plenum table from ShopBot. Would like to hear or see what everyone else is doing or built, or thoughts, ideas?

You can find lots of YouTube and CNCZone postings on DIY vacuum hold-down. Search for "CNC Vacuum tables".

I cant really find any thorough information, like pumps used and spoil board setup. I have been reading other forums and I have been slowly absorbing everything I can. Most post dont go into great detail. I guess maybe I am expecting to be spoon fed. :)

Just search YouTube as suggested. You will find lots of posts, many with great details you're wanting. Typical spoil board is MDF with skin shaved on both sides to improve porosity. Tables are sealed torsion box construction. Pumps vary according to desired hold down area.

Hi Jeff Harry-o here Ihave built vacuum clamping for my wood shop and built vacuum machine myself . Works very good. There are several sight you can go to one is www.joewoodworker.com I envy all you guys with this CNC knowledge I'm a retired tradesman just learning now. I would give more sites but dont have them on me and dont know how to post them automaticaly HA HA but i can build a vacuum system. It can be done for much less than commercial baught unit if you have build skills.

Here are the YouTube videos I found some months back. Similar in concept to Bret's Shopbotwiki link (which was way cool btw especially since it used Fein shop vacs).
